Child/Youth Mental Health Counselor (NEW)
Permanent, Full time

Come join the dynamic team at Intersect Youth and Family Services. We are actively recruiting a full time Mental Health Counselor to join our team. As the successful applicant of this position, you will provide a variety of intake, counselling and group services to support children, youth and their families in Prince George.

You must meet all qualifications listed below for this opportunity. Equivalent will not be considered so please do not apply if you do not meet all qualifications listed below:

  • Bachelors level degree in Social Work, Child & Youth Care, or other human/social science degree is required for this position;
  • Clinical experience providing mental health services to children, adolescents and families; clinical knowledge of children’s mental health challenges and interventions.
  • Experience planning and delivering therapeutic groups.
  • Excellent assessment skills and knowledge of community services for children and youth.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills to develop and maintain therapeutic relationships; and to work with other members of the child’s support team.
  • Demonstrated ability to be organized and flexible in a fast-changing work environment.
  • Successful completion of a criminal record check including working with vulnerable populations.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and acceptable drivers abstract.

The hours are typically Monday to Friday from 8:30-4:30; however, other pre-scheduled evening and weekend work is also part of this position. The starting wage is $27.87 (a higher wage is negotiable depending on your education and experience), a full benefits package is available after completing a 3-month probationary period.
