Board Members Our Board of Directors are a dedicated group of experienced individuals whose primary role is to oversee the operations of the Society and to set policies. The board members are elected for three year terms by the Society's voting members at the Annual General Meeting. The Directors are volunteers from the community and have a variety of experience and expertise. Each Board member also sits on at least one of the following five committees:

Executive/Finance Committee - responsible for budgeting and ensuring fiscal accountability

Human Resources Committee - deals with personnel issues, staffing, wages, benefits, etc...

Constitutional & Bylaws -

Quality Assurance -
-
Clinical Committee - reviews clinical philosophies, vision, mission and agency philosophies.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS:

Oliver Hui is the Chairperson for Intersect's Board and has been a member since October 1990. He is a partner at Wilson King & Company, a Prince George law firm. He practices in the area of civil litigation, including motor vehicle accident claims, insurance claims, wrongful dismissal and workers compensation. He is the President of the Prince George Bar Association and is involved in a number of other community activities, including the Prince George Roadrunners Club, The Alpine Club of Canada and the Immaculate Conception Parish Council.

Dr. Barbara Kane is the Vice-Chairperson for Intersect's Board and has been a member since July 1991. Dr. Kane is a Psychiatrist who has been practicing in Prince George since 1990. Her main areas of interest include the treatment of mentally ill persons involved with the law and treatment and research into temper problems.

Sherry Coffey is a Director of Intersect's Board and has been a member since October 1998. She is an Accountant for KPMG, which is located in Prince George.

Dawn Hemingway is a Director of the Board and has been a member since August 2003. She has lived in Prince George for more than 15 years. Dawn is an Associate Professor and Chair in the University of Northern British Columbia School of Social Work, with teaching and research interests that include disability issues, aging, social policy development, community organizing and research, women's health, northern/remote health and quality of life. Dawn is on the national board of the Canadian Association for Social Work Education, Co-Director of the BC Network for Aging Research, Past President of the BC Psychogeriatric Association and provincial board member of “Board Voice”. Dawn was the 2003 recipient of the Bridget Moran Advancement of Social Work in Northern Communities Award and the 2009 recipient of the Canadian Association of Social Workers Distinguished Service Award. She plays an active role in many local and regional organizations such as the Women North Network, Northern Women's Forum, Active Voice Coalition, the Association Advocating for Women and Children, Surpassing Our Survival, the Stand Up for the North Committee and the Northern Branch of the BC Association of Social Workers.

Leah Lampert has been a member of the Board since May 2007. She is a Youth Probation Officer and has worked with high risk/at risk youth in the Community since 1991. She is very interested in preventing childhood trauma and abuse. Leah has been a long term residient of Prince George and is very active in the Sports Community. Leah graduated from the University of Northern B.C.

Olivia Lestideau is a Director of Intersect's Board. She is a School Psychologist, and presently employed by School District #57 (Prince George). Olivia is also a District Partner with the Provincial Outreach Program for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, and has been keenly interested in FASD for many years. She graduated from the University of Northern B.C. in 2005, and from the University of Alberta in 2008. Prior to pursuing graduate studies at U of A, Olivia worked in a residential setting with high-risk youth.
